What this project changes in healthcare: the problem to solve

• Over 18 million tonnes of wet biomass wasted each year in Europe
• Co-products rich in nutrients but underutilised, often discarded or burned
• Difficult to store due to their high water content, leading to losses and environmental impact
• Lack of fast, reliable and energy-efficient industrial drying solutions
• Insufficient recovery hindering the circular economy and increasing CO₂ emissions

The envisaged solution

• Development of a specialised, fast and energy-efficient dryer that guarantees quality and food safety
• ProSeed Unit installed directly at producers’ premises to process co-products on site
• Support for creating new food applications (pasta, bars, meat substitutes)
• Recovery of 80,000 tonnes of brewers’ grains per year in Switzerland, reducing waste and CO₂
• Project example: MALTITUDE, a local and circular energy bar made from brewers’ grains
